ELDER MILL COVERED BRIDGE

Happy Mother’s Day from Motorcycle Riding Moms!!!! I started my Mother’s Day weekend riding to visit Elder Mill Covered Bridge in Watkinsville, Georgia.

Built in 1897, Elder Mill Covered Bridge is located in Watkinsville, a few miles from Athens, GA. While it was moved here from its original location in 1924, it is one of a few that you can still drive through.

It carries traffic without the support of steel beams. There is a small parking area on the other side where you can stop for photos and walk down to Rose Creek below. It is free to visit.

Location Address: 1441 Elder Mill Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677

While visiting Elder Mill Covered Bridge, I met another rider who shared that he is currently participating in “The Grand Tour of Georgia (GTGA)” riding event to visit Georgia’s 16 covered bridges plus other interesting historical bridges.

Plan a motorcycle road trip for yourself to see the historic and modern covered bridges in your state. Enjoy your summer travels!

Safe Riding,
Lolo
