TOCCOA FALLS

Toccoa Falls is a beautiful 186-foot-high waterfall located on the campus of Toccoa Falls College, a four-year, fully accredited Christian College.

Toccoa Falls is one the tallest free-falling waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. Per the official website, this waterfall is higher than Niagara Falls.

A meandering stream flows through the lower part of the 1,000-acre, wooded campus from the base of the waterfall.

The story of Toccoa Falls includes a tragic footnote. The Kelly Barnes Dam, located above the Toccoa Falls Bible College, failed in the early morning hours of Nov. 6, 1977. Thirty-nine people died in the resulting flood, which inundated part of the campus including a trailer park. It was the worst natural disaster in Georgia in more than 40 years.

Toccoa Falls is accessed through the gift shop which is open from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday, and from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Sundays. The popular tourist attraction is a short 100-yard path and is handicap accessible.

A nominal admission fee is collected in the gift shop. Hours vary during holidays, so please call in advance.
